2023 GEO Week

The 2023 GEO Week took place in Cape Town, South Africa, on 6-10 November 2023. Organized by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), the event included the GEO-19 Plenary from 8-9 November and the GEO Ministerial Summit on 10 November. 

The theme for this year’s GEO Week and the Ministerial Summit was The Earth Talks, reflecting GEO’s unique ability to listen to what our planet is saying and inspire actions through trusted, open Earth observation solutions. Community events, booths and an exhibition showcased the capability of the GEO.

Showcasing Earth observation in the Pacific, and for his dedication to Earth Observation (EO) in the Pacific Islands, Jean Massenet was awarded the 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 at the GEOWeek 2023 ceremony.

As a driving force behind the ART GeoDEV NC and the Oceania Geospatial Symposium #OGS2022 - Tauhā, Jean has truly enhanced #collaboration and #engagement within the Pacific EO community, fostering opportunities for collaboration and capacity development. His innovative approach, centered on equitable development and regional collaboration, has paved the way for concerted solutions to address local challenges. His inspiring #leadership fully aligns with GEO's core values, thus fostering significant and sustainable progress in the field of Earth Observation.
